1cupParmesan Cheese, grated *fresh grated works best
1 1/2tspgarlic powder*or more to taste
1/2 to 1 tspkosher salt, to taste*you can use regular salt, just add to taste without measuring- this will make it more salty faster
Marinara (Spaghetti Sauce)
1can (14.5 oz.)beef broth
1small can (8 oz.)tomato sauce
3tbspcornstarch *for thickening
1/2tbspwhite sugar
2tspItalian seasoning
1/2 to 1tspkosher salt, to taste*if using regular salt start with 1/4 tsp, then season to taste
1/2tspground oregano
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Cook your pasta according to the package but leave it a little under-done, so it is not too soft. It will soften and cook a bit more in the oven. When the pasta is cooked just under-done, drain it, and rinse it in cold water so it stops cooking. Set it aside.
Alfredo Sauce
Melt your butter in a skillet over medium heat and add your flour and minced garlic. Whisk it together and let it cook for 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and butter and flour start to bubble.
Add your milk to the butter and flour and whisk it together until mixed well. Continue to whisk the sauce over medium heat until it starts to thicken.
Add your cream cheese and whisk until the cream cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
Make you Marinara Sauce and Alfredo Sauce (see instructions below).
Marinara Sauce
In a small/medium saucepan, add all the Marinara Sauce ingredients and mix well. Let the sauce come to a boil, whisking it the entire time. It should thicken when it starts to boil. Keep whisking the sauce until it is thickened, then remove it from the heat. Adjust the seasonings to your liking as needed.
Making the Pasta Dish
Mix the Alfredo and Marinara Sauce together. You can adjust the seasonings at this point as well if needed. You can add more garlic powder, salt etc.
Mix in the cooked pasta. Mix well.
Take half of your grated mozzarella cheese (about 1 cup) and mix in the pasta and sauce.*If you are adding cooked meat or veggies in the dish, add it now!
Pour the pasta in a greased 9x13 baking dish. Cover with foil.
Bake at 375° for 30 minutes. Take the foil off the last 10 minutes and let the cheese brown a bit on top if desired.
Take the dish out of the oven when it is done to your liking and dish up!
Notes
You can you use store bought bottled Marinara and Alfredo sauce if you prefer. Just buy one bottle of each, or 2 if using a brand that is 15 oz. You will need roughly 3 cups of each sauce or more if you want it extra saucey- and you can add more or less of one or the other sauces to taste! I love to add some fresh grated Parmesan cheese to bottle sauces and a season it to taste with garlic powder, garlic salt, onion powder, and Italian Seasoning to taste! You can add any cooked meat or fresh veggies to your pasta bake before baking.
