This fresh Homemade Naan Bread is soft, chewy and easy to make! It is the perfect side to go with your main dishes or soups, or dip the bread in your favorite dip for an appetizer or snack!
Kosher salt, garlic salt or your choice of seasoning/herbs for topping after cooking (optional)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl combine the warm water, sugar, yeast and stir to dissolve. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes until it is foamy.
Add in your salt, yogurt and part of your flour. Mix ingredients together and continue adding in flour until the mixture is slightly sticky but easy to handle. (I usually use right around 3 cups of flour).
Turn the ball of dough on to a floured surface and knead the dough for an additional 3-5 minutes until it is soft and smooth and not too sticky. Avoid adding to much flour as you are kneading it or the bread will be dry.
Cover the dough loosely with a clean kitchen cloth and let it raise about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
After it rises, cut the dough into 8-10 equal pieces (depending on how big or small you want them). Roll each piece in to a ball for easier rolling.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Roll each piece of dough into a circle (on a floured surface), about 1/4 thick. Place the rolled dough on your hot skillet and watch the bottom closely. Once you see dark brown spots and the bread start to bubble a bit, flip it over to the other side. Once both sides are browned to your liking, remove the bread from the skillet and immediately brush with butter and top with kosher salt, garlic salt or your favorite herbs and seasonings if desired.
Place your warm cooked Naan Bread on a plate loosely covered with a clean kitchen cloth to keep it warm while you cook the rest of the dough.
