What makes this chicken noodle soup creamy?

This Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup recipe is creamy and rich.

The base of the soup is made with chicken broth and heavy whipping cream. At the very end of the cooking time a block of cream cheese is added making this soup base even more rich and creamy.

Can you use substitutions for the heavy whipping cream and cream cheese?

You can use half and half or whole milk in place of the heavy whipping cream. Do not use a low fat milk, you need the high fat content to make the soup rich and creamy.
Cream cheese is needed to make the soup even more rich and creamy. Do not you use low fat or lite cream cheese.

What type of Pasta do you need for this Chicken Noodle Soup?

I prefer angel hair pasta for this easy chicken noodle soup. I love how thin this pasta is and is just a bit different than your typical egg noodles that are usually used in chicken noodle soup.

Have your ever had the little packets of Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup? The noodles are tiny and thin. I love that soup and I wanted this creamy chicken noodle soup to be reminiscent of that.

I break up the pasta into smaller pieces before adding it to the soup. This makes the soup just like the packets of Lipton Noodle Soup!

You can use any type of pasta for this soup. You can use typical egg noodles, homemade noodles, fettuccine, spaghetti or even penne, ziti or bow tie pasta.

DO NOT COOK THE PASTA AHEAAD OF TIME! IT WILL COOK IN THE SOUP!

The Chicken for Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup

This chicken noodle soup is so easy. You will need to have cooked chicken that is either cut into small pieces or shredded, whichever you prefer.

What kind of chicken is used for this soup and are there other options?

I use cooked, chicken breasts cut into small pieces for this soup. You can use a rotisserie chicken which will make this chicken noodle so easy! Canned chicken can be used as well.
Cooked turkey can be used in place of chicken.

The Seasoning for this Easy Soup

Chicken broth will give this soup base that classic chicken flavor, which is obvious considering this is a chicken noodle soup. But chicken broth on its own will not give it much flavor.

I have found chicken broth on its own, while it has chicken flavor, is pretty flat in flavor. Additional seasoning is always needed in my opinion.

I use a packet of dry ranch mix and it gives the perfect flavor profile. The ranch seasonings round out the chicken soup base and give this creamy chicken noodle soup the perfect balanced flavor without having to add a bunch of separate seasonings.

How To Make Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup

This easy creamy chicken noodle soup is so easy to make.

The chicken is already cooked so you just need to put it all together. The pasta will cook in the soup as it heats and boils.

In a large pot, add your chicken broth, heavy whipping cream, ranch seasoning, carrots, celery (optional), and pasta. If you are using a long pasta like angel hair, break it up into smaller pieces if preferred. You will add the cooked chicken and cream cheese at the very end.

Bring the soup to a boil and then reduce the heat and let the pasta cook until it is soft and done. Add the cooked chicken and the block of cream cheese. Stir the soup until the cream cheese is fully melted and incorporated. Then, add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve and enjoy!
